Welcome!!

If you live in the greater Estacada, Eagle Creek and Barton area (those residences with a 97022 or 97023 zip code) and your child is under five (5) years old, he or she is eligible to receive free, high quality, age-appropriate books delivered to your home once a month (one per month for the succeeding sixty months after birth)!

The Friends of the Estacada Public Library is the Local Champion of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The Estacada Community Foundation is a matching donor.

Over 2,000 communities across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia are affiliated with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. We are one of those communities, thanks to funding provided by the Friends of the Estacada Public Library and the Estacada Community Foundation.

Dolly Parton began giving books to children in Sevier County, Tennessee, where she grew up, over twenty years ago as a tribute to her father, who was smart and hardworking, but never learned to read or write. She knows that when children are read to at home, they are more prepared for kindergarten and ultimately, they are more successful in school. Over time, the book program grew and become Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The Dollywood Foundation now teams up with Penguin Random House Books to provide books at a low cost to communities who want to get books into the homes of preschool children. This program has won a number of awards, including The Best Practices award from the Library of Congress Literacy Awards (2014), recognition in Reading Psychology (2012) and the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval (2001). Currently, over 1,000,000 children worldwide receive monthly, age-appropriate books free of charge. You can learn more about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at www.imaginationlibrary.com

In the Estacada area, the books are provided free of charge, thanks to the Friends of the Estacada Public Library and the Estacada Community Foundation to ANY child under five years old living in the 97022 and 97023 zip codes.
